Food quality and safety control has always been a priority at Karas Group. Since 2016, the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) has been implemented and has become an integral part of our food production, allowing us to manage food safety risks at the highest level.
What is the HACCP system and why is it important?
HACCP is an internationally recognized method applied throughout the entire food preparation chain — from sourcing raw materials to final serving. Thanks to this system, leading food networks like Karas can prevent hazardous factors and ensure food safety.
The goal of Karas is to serve high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly dishes made from clean ingredients. With the help of HACCP, we avoid risks that could harm health, while maintaining international food safety standards.
Quality Control Center and Continuous Employee Trainings.
In the Karas national food chain, periodic staff training plays a key role across all departments. These programs are designed to equip employees with:
Relevant skills
Food safety tools
Methods for identifying potential risks early on

At Karas, food quality is strictly monitored — from selecting raw materials to the final stage of service. Our production processes include:
Inspection of raw materials upon entry
Maintenance of proper storage conditions
Strict adherence to sanitary regulations
Timely inspections of freshness and packaging
This ensures that our customers enjoy high-quality and safe food regardless of which branch they visit.
Regular Inspections and System Improvement.
The quality control department at Karas conducts weekly visits to examine the real conditions of production in all branches. Specialists assess:
📌 Entry of raw materials
📌 Cooking process
📌 Sanitary conditions
📌 Quality of service
This allows us to maintain high standards and prevent any issues before they reach the consumer.
Continuous Improvement Based on Customer Feedback.
We value customer feedback and reviews. Regular analysis of feedback, surveys, and customer ratings help us improve our services.
This is how we continuously evolve, offering tastier, safer, and more reliable food to our guests.

Karas National Food Chain is pleased to announce that starting from the summer of 2023, we have initiated a rebranding process aimed at modernizing our presence and bringing a fresh spirit to the Karas brand.
Why is rebranding important for food industry companies?
As a brand representing Armenian national cuisine, our goal remains unchanged: to be trusted, recognizable, and in tune with the times.
Our journey began in 2005, when we founded Karas as one of the largest food chains in Armenia. We continue our mission to serve the best of Armenian cuisine, aligned with the rhythm of modern life.
But how can a brand preserve its national roots while also evolving?
We’ve found our answer — through rebranding.
As part of the rebranding, the red color and the name in the logo are preserved, since the brand has been recognized under this identity for 20 years. The new logo was developed in collaboration with Braind, and the updated interior design was created together with Archangel. This innovative approach and strategic design aim to merge the brand's identity with the expectations of a new generation.
We are proud to present the new logo of Karas National Food Chain — a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Preserving the brand’s DNA, including its name and symbolic “karas” clay jar, the redesigned emblem reflects both our past and our vision for the future.
The new emblem incorporates elements of tradition and cultural heritage, presenting Karas as a symbol of craftsmanship — carrying the essence of our history, values, and the uniqueness of Armenian cuisine. This approach connects the past with the present while laying the foundation for future growth.
The central features of the new logo reflect our core values — a commitment to quality, openness to innovation, and the ability to meet the expectations of the modern world. All of this confirms that Karas is moving toward international expansion while preserving its Armenian identity.
We warmly invite you to visit our branches, discover our updated look, and experience the taste and warmth of Armenian cuisine.
Where can you enjoy delicious Armenian dishes in a contemporary setting?
Of course, at Karas. We will continue striving to provide our customers with the best quality, while maintaining modern, fast, and responsible service standards.

Karas National Food Chain — your best choice.

Armenian cuisine, with its rich traditions and unique flavors, has long attracted global attention.
But who presented it boldly and widely on the international stage?
Karas National Food Chain took Armenian cuisine to a new level, presenting it to the U.S. market — where the presence of authentic Armenian food was not only in demand but eagerly anticipated.
On December 27, 2017, Karas opened its first U.S. branch in the heart of Glendale, California, at 158 South Brand Boulevard. This milestone was not only a business move but also a cultural bridge, connecting Armenian flavors to a new audience.
The Glendale location showcases the full charm of traditional Armenian dishes — dolma, khorovats (barbecue), khashlama, harissa, lahmajoon, tanapour, and more, proudly preserving our cultural heritage.
However, to succeed in this new market, menu diversification was key. The offerings were expanded to include European and American-style fast food: burgers, chicken nuggets, fries, mozzarella sticks, and more — tailored to local tastes.
This allowed Karas to reach a wider audience without compromising its Armenian identity.
The restaurant also stands out with its 400 square meter space, designed in Karas’ signature branding. Customers enjoy a modern atmosphere that still carries the authentic Armenian spirit.
The success of Karas in the U.S. grew quickly — thanks to high quality, menu variety, and affordability.
As a result, in 2022, Karas opened its second American branch in Van Nuys, California, at 13663 Vanowen Street. This new branch reinforces Karas's presence in the U.S. and expands its customer base.
This location also offers traditional Armenian dishes — dolma, khorovats, khashlama, lahmajoon, harissa, and more — while maintaining Karas’ signature style and modern approach.
It introduces both the Armenian-American community and local customers to the uniqueness of Armenian cuisine — all within a fast-casual, affordable dining experience.
And Karas has no intention of stopping. The opening of a second U.S. branch is only the beginning. The brand continues its path of growth and expansion, aiming to reach new cities and markets.
Today, Karas remains a successful brand that represents the richness of Armenian cuisine, quality, fast service, and the traditions of hospitality — while also creating new platforms for the international recognition of Armenian culture.
Thus, the expansion of Karas in the United States is not just a business success, but a meaningful step in promoting Armenian cuisine and culture worldwide.

Karas has been successfully collaborating with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for over 10 years, implementing a series of impactful and successful projects.
This partnership has not only contributed to the company’s growth but also played a crucial role in improving all aspects of its business — from human resources development to efficient supply chain management.
Human Resources Reform
One of the main areas of Karas's development has been the improvement of its human resource management system. With the support of EBRD, this transformation began through the involvement of international experts and professional consultants — such as Steve Wingham, a seasoned professional in the service industry.
Why is the involvement of external consultants important for improving service quality?
Based on their expertise, Karas developed documentation and evaluation systems for operational processes — aimed at the professional growth and training of employees in various roles.
These reforms played a major role in business development by improving employee self-assessment and reinforcing their sense of contribution to the company’s success.
Karas not only benefited from these investments but also reached new heights in its marketing strategy by analyzing customer behavior and market expectations.
How did HR improvements impact customer satisfaction?
Implementation of Food Safety Standards
Another critical component of Karas’s collaboration with EBRD was the introduction of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) quality management system.
This system ensures food safety monitoring at all stages of production and distribution — a fundamental requirement in the public food sector.
Karas consistently monitors and eliminates food safety risks before they occur. Special attention is given to suppliers, who are also required to meet HACCP standards to ensure safe and high-quality ingredient sourcing.
A new agreement signed with EBRD, which also includes the participation of Inecobank, opens up new horizons for Karas Group — supporting the company’s international market expansion plans.
During the EBRD 2024 Business Forum, company representative Meri Yuzbashyan spoke about supply chain challenges, emphasizing their impact on improving business efficiency.
This long-standing partnership has not only strengthened Karas’s position in Armenia but has also laid the foundation for entering international markets — all while maintaining high quality standards and a strong sense of responsibility.
The continued cooperation with EBRD demonstrates that business success stems not only from expansion but also from sustained investments in quality control, risk management, and human capital development.
